The summer school was held during July 09 to July 12, 2017. It was co-organized by UDUR and CAS-IEE. 32 researchers (including 13 ERs and 19 ESRs) from UDUR, CAS-IEE, HWU, ICCS, CEPRI, SYU, and Sichuan University participated in this summer school.

This summer school consists of two main sections that are, academic presentations and research facilities visits. The academic presentations given by ERs fall in the field of smart grid and information and communication technologies, and include the following topics:

  • Smart grid key technologies and challenges

  • Smart grid demonstrations in Greece

  • 5G Key Technologies and Channel Models

  • Machine-to-Machine Communication for Smart Energy Management

  • Planning Charging Service for EV in Smart Grid

  • Analytical Modeling of Available Inertia and Droop Responses from VSWT for Frequency Regulation in Power Systems

  • Key Technologies of Operation and Control of Active Distribution Network.

These presentations, serve as one type of training activities, enable that relevant knowledge and skills can be effectively transferred from ERs to ESRs. The research facilities visits include: CAS-IEE’s Yanqing Demonstration Base in Badaling Beijing, and CEPRI’s research facilities. These visits aim to not only enhance mutual understandings of technical background, but also provide insightful guide to ESRs to know the state-of-the-art research outcomes in the field of smart grid research.
